The Huairou Commission, USA in partnership with Cordaid, Nether-
lands has announced a pioneering initiative to offer 10 Fellow-
ships for young journalists from Asia Pacific, Africa, Latin
America, Eastern Europe and the Netherlands as part of its
strategy in building partnership with the media in a concerted
effort to strengthen and support its work in making grassroots
women's contribution to development process more visible.

The Fellowship will provide opportunities for the recipients to
participate in a day and a half of classroom discussion and re-
port on the Grassroots Women's International Academy (GWIA) and
the World Urban Forum (WUF) holding in Barcelona, Spain from
September 7 - 17, 2004 to show how important grassroots govern-
ance processes are to the long term social, political and eco-
nomic development of their communities.
