Physicians for Human Rights Report on Brain Drain
-------------------------------------------------

Dear All,

Hello. I know that the issue of "brain drain" of health profes-
sionals from Africa has been a subject of discussion on this
listserv, so I thought you might be interested in a new report
on the topic. Earlier this month, Physicians for Human Rights, a
US-based NGO, released a report titled "An Action Plan to Pre-
vent Brain Drain: Building Equitable Health Systems in Africa."
A copy of the report [Adobe PDF file, 129 pp. 688 kB], as well
as a press release, is available at
http://www.phrusa.org/campaigns/aids/bangkok/braindrain.html

In the report, we emphasize that solutions do exist and offer a
number of recommendations -- though it will take significant po-
litical commitment and resources to get many of these imple-
mented. Please let me know if you have an interest in getting
involved in advocacy work related to these issues.

Thanks.

Peace,

Eric A. Friedman
