RFI: Africa Malaria Day (2)
---------------------------
The general answer to the question about what happens on Africa Ma-
laria Day is that African countries have their own advocacy events
encouraging anti-malaria action at country level.
For example the President of Kenya will distribute insecticide
treated bednets to pregnant women.
To assist countries in planning their events, WHO has prepared an RBM
Advocacy Guide (RBM = Roll Back Malaria).
The RBM Advocacy Guide can be downloaded from RBM web-site:
http://www.rbm.who.int
Africa Malaria Day is 25th April with 2 aims, 3 objectives, 4 ele-
ments.
Relevant African authorities, local & national, plan various events
for Africa Malaria Day to encourage effective actions against ma-
laria. Everyone is encouraged to become involved. The RBM partnership
comprises Governments coordinated & supported by UNDP, UNICEF, WHO &
World Bank, plus NGOs and donors.
The fourth Global Partners meeting of RBM will be hosted by World
Bank headquarters in Washington DC on 18-19 April 2001.
