[afro-nets] RFI: Short Term training opportunities on PMTCT and ART

Dear All

I am a public health professional currently involved in different projects. As you know the issue of HIV/AIDS at this era is mandatory too all let alone to health professionals. Even if I do have basic knowledge on HIV/AIDS I need to refresh my knowledge on ART therapy and PMTCT. If you know any sites which give opportunity for short term trainings on these topics, send me information please.

With regards

Gizachew

Try the Infectious Disease Institute of the Makerere University and Mulago Hospital in Uganda. They have good training programs,

The website is http://www.idi.ac.ug

Dear Gizachew,

Please see the WHO website for operational health services managers (MAKER) at: http://www.who.int/management

On the right hand column on the MAKER home page you will find a link to "Study courses".

On that page you will see a link to "Distance based learning"

One of the links on that page, is for the World Bank Institute learning pages for health and HIV/AIDS - at their site, you can find their e-learning programme this year - though I do not see anything there at the moment on ART therapy and PMTCT.

Further down the MAKER distance based learning page, you will find a link to the Global e-learning centre - it has several free online courses related to HIV/AIDS.

If you go to the MAKER link "Search for courses" and select the Medicus Mundi search engine,
-- at TOPIC select "Healthcare areas: HIV/AIDS and sexually transmitted diseases"
-- at TYPE select "Distance Learning"

Then click "Start search" - this will probably show longer courses that may need to be paid for.

Let me and AFRO-NETS know if you find something suitable.

The MAKER website regularly posts information on a range of courses related to health services management, sot it is worth checking it regularly.
