Director of Research Utilization, Family Health International
(FHI)

Position Overview:

We are seeking a skilled public health professional with demon-
strated leadership and technical expertise in the field of in-
ternational reproductive health, including family planning and
HIV/AIDS programs, to fill the position of Director of Research
Utilization. The Director will work closely with the Vice Presi-
dent of the Field, Information and Training Services Department
(FITS) of FHI to establish program priorities, create program-
matic strategies and oversee the work of our research utiliza-
tion efforts. Other responsibilities include: leading FHI's Re-
search to Practice (RtoP) efforts, including information dis-
semination activities; creating systems to ensure RtoP implemen-
tation; building strategic relationships with reproductive
health service delivery organizations to advance research utili-
zation efforts; supervising staff; monitoring budgets; and writ-
ing proposals for funding.

The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of programs
and service delivery relating to family planning and reproduc-
tive health in developing countries; the ability to manage mul-
tiple projects, set realistic priorities, and diagnose plans for
the successful implementation of activities; broad knowledge of
international project management; experience supervising staff
and managing team projects; and the ability to manage change and
inspire teamwork.

The position is based in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina,
USA.

Requirements:

Advanced degree in public health, health education, health sci-
ences, behavioral sciences or related discipline with ten years
experience in planning, management, and program implementation
in the field of international reproductive health, or equivalent
combination of education and experience. Excellent written and
oral communication skills. Sensitivity to cultural differences
and understanding of the political and ethical issues surround-
ing family planning and reproductive health issues. Ability to
travel internationally and domestically.
