E-DRUG: [e-drug] after Vioxx, now Bextra? (2)
---------------------------------------------
Andy Gray brings up and extremely important point. The drug prescribing and
distributional, at least in the USA, has been taken to the point of
stressing indications and really not dealing with the implications in
individual patients. I am seeing more drug induced disease in patients.
Patients and/or family are coming to me about symptoms that can not be
diagnosed and as a result they come to the consultant pharmacist. I have
seen many patients were eliminated a drug or modifying a dose eliminates and
unexplained disease and the symptoms. We really need to evaluate new drugs
and we can not really rely on governmental agencies for individual patient
safety.
Sorry to be so critical, but I see this as an increasing problem. I hate
finding out later why a patient died.
