E-drug: Codeine in cough mixtures (cont)

Dear E-Drug,

Cough mixture containing codeine is not banned in Brunei Darussalam. It is a  
prescription medicine.

Any private GPs who dispense any preparation containing codeine is required  
to keep a record like psychotropic substances for future reference in case  
of any enquiry by the enforcement agency.

Unauthorised consumption of codeine is an offence under the Misuse of Drugs  
Act and the Narcotic Control Bureau is the authority which carry out routine  
screening on suspect taking illegal substances.
