E-DRUG: Empower Successful Completion of Leadership Workshop April 2018

Dear e-drug Members,
Greetings.
We are glad to announce the successful completion of the \*International
Workshop on Strategic Leadership in Global Health and Development\*, jointly
organized by\* Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and Empower
School of Health\*, in Dubai. The goal of the workshop was to assist
professionals in building continuously learning organizations, meet the
health targets of their countries and provide a guiding shared vision to
improve people's health. 20 participants from 11 organizations representing
15 countries attended the workshop.
The course focused on the three roles of transformational leaders:
- \*Catalytic-\* Generating a shared vision of a healthy future people
want to create;
- \*Enabling-\* Creating a work environment characterized by teamwork,
trust, open-mindedness, transparency and shared accountability for all
outcomes;
- \*Learning-\* Encouraging the development of action-learning
organizations with the flexibility to change the vast resources of ordinary
people to more effectively and efficiently improve their health.
The unique strength of the workshop was access to the rich experience of
faculty from Johns Hopkins, Empower and the participants from 15 countries
and 11 organizations. The seminar focused on transforming health
institutions and emphasized leadership that is visionary, enabling and
oriented towards learning.
