E-DRUG: Internet-based guideline depository unveiled

E-drug: Internet-based guideline depository unveiled
---------------------------------------------
A new Internet-based repository of clinical practice guidelines was rolled
out in January, according to a report in the Feb. 1 issue of American
Medical News. National Guideline Clearinghouse developers hope instant
access will reverse
delayed acceptance of the clinical tools, which have largely just gathered
dust on researchers' desks. This report is the full-text "story of the
week" on the AMNews Web site:

http://www.ama-assn.org/amnews

There are currently 286 guidelines and they expect the number to climb to
3500 within three years
I accessed the site and found it quite user friendly. The site can be
searched for specific guidelines. There are two versions of the site - with
and without frames. Under diseases/conditions I found 204 guidelines listed
under systems e.g. Cardiovascular diseases.

The childhood immunization guideline consists of a summary with
recommendations graded A-E.
