Dear colleagues,
Today, 31 May 1996, Margaretha Helling-Borda leaves the WHO Drug Action
Programme in Geneva after serving the essential drugs concept for 20 years.
In those 20 years, she has personally assisted the development of the
Essential Drug Concept in WHO, the first essential drug list in 1977,
the birth of the WHO Drug Action Programme in 1981 etc.
Her struggle for the essential drugs concept was never an easy one: sharks
and alligators were always around to tackle the concept and the DAP programme.
She has, however, maintained a steady course, and served the last years as
Director, DAP.
I would like to propose that you send her a warm thank you message,
as she has deserved it!
