E-DRUG: Missionpharma & World Response investigated for bribery & money laundering (5)
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The Missionpharma investigation is not worthy to be posted on the e-drug for discussion. With investigations currently underway, this might jeopardise the whole process. Worthy noting is also the people behind its first posting as they might have an ill conceived interest in blowing the whole thing out of proportion.

E-DRUG: Missionpharma & World Response investigated for bribery & money laundering (6)

Dear E-Druggers

I find it strange that it might somehow be acceptable for E-Drug to
carry news articles (and at times petitions) relating to court processes
involving patent challenges, pharmaceutical company misdemeanours, and
more and yet this one topic which also impacts directly on access to
essential medicines is somehow taboo. I see no need for the moderators
to censor this topic, as long as we remain cognisant that it is an
ongoing case where the full facts and final decision are still to come out.

Allegations of corruption are important when they're substantiated, but
also when they are not. These allegations are often used as a background
justification for shutting down programs (as well as companies) and as a
persistent form of comparative slander against developing countries and
those that work with them. An added advantage to knowing about when such
claims are made is that advocates can prepare a defense of needed programs.

I think it is good to publish this kind of information, as it can be
helpful for professionals who don't have access to all kinds of
information. I agree on the point that e-drug should not publish opinions
on these matters. I would also like to add that this is not the first
article in a respected international newspaper: the UK based 'Observer'
published over a year ago an article about these allegations, indicating
"a Danish company", but without mentioning the company's name. Working and
based in Central Africa, this case is also part of our professional
discussions and reality.
