E-drug: New Drug Classes on Formularies
---------------------------------------------
E-druggers,
I am trying to learn about new drugs and how national formularies go
about evaluating them. I am interested in how long it takes new classes of
drugs (ie-COX-2 inhibitors) to get on such formularies and the criteria
used in the approval process. Do national formularies generally wait until
the drugs go off patent to approve the compound? How is price taken into
consideration? I am interested in any countries you may know about as well
as at the WHO level. Thanks.
