I agree with Anne Holbrook (also from Canada) that there is no advertising
to the public in Canada for prescription products - drug companies are
allowed to advertise in publications intended for health care professionals
only.
In Manitoba, the laws regulating the information to be included on retail
prescription labels state that the generic name, strength, dosage form, and
manufacturer must be on the customer's label - the trade name is optional
EXCEPT for combination products. To avoid confusion with generic names and
strengths in combination products the trade name is used.
