Dear Colleagues,

In reply to the suggestion from Dr. George Kibumba, I would like to
introduce you to the Pharmabridge Project. Pharmabridge is a private
initiative started by Agathe Wehrli in 1999, after her retirement from
more that 30 years with the World Health Organization (WHO).
Pharmabridge is run on a voluntary and non-commercial basis. Both the
International Pharmaceutical Federation (FIP) and the Commonwealth
Pharmaceutical Association (CPA) have provided their support throughout.

The objective of the project is to strengthen pharmacy services in
developing and transitional countries with the support of the pharmacy
establishment in the developed world. On the basis of information
collected via the attached questionnaire addressing demands/offers,
Pharmabridge fosters intercommunication of pharmacists and the creation
of institutional and personal links (twinning), in support of schools of
pharmacy, pharmacists associations, drug information centres, hospital
pharmacies, and individual pharmacists by providing e.g. books and
access to training, faculty and other exchange opportunities.

There are now some 400 parties that have registered with Pharmabridge
and most participants from developing countries are eager to create
contacts with their peers, particularly in developed countries. There is
thus a great need for pharmacists from thedeveloped world to be open for
contact and in some situations to offer opportunities for
visits/training in their pharmacy settings. An important focus of
interest is clinical pharmacy/pharmacy practice and faculty exchange.

Kind Regards,

Teresa
