E-DRUG: Pharmaceutical Security Institute and grant opportunities
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Greetings,
By way of introduction, the Pharmaceutical Security Institute (PSI)
is a not-for-profit trade association in Vienna, Virginia. PSI's
members are the Security Directors of eighteen major research-based
international pharmaceutical manufacturers. PSI works in tandem with
its member companies, foreign agencies, international organizations,
and other concerned parties to collect and disseminate information on
incidents of counterfeiting, diversion, and theft of pharmaceuticals
worldwide. PSI's mission is to protect public health, share
information, and initiate law enforcement action through the
appropriate authorities.
One of PSIs goals is to help develop the capacity to monitor and
regulate the pharmaceutical industry in Eurasia. We feel that
building and strengthening institutional relationships through
professional or scholar exchange programs is essential in this
regard. The FSA Contemporary Issues Fellowship is an example of such
an exchange program. The program, funded by the Bureau of
Educational and Cultural Affairs, US Department of State under the
FREEDOM Support Act, provides opportunities for experienced
professionals from Eurasia to conduct four months of independent
policy-oriented research in the United States with the goal of
playing an active role in sustaining the transition to democracy,
free markets, and civil society in their home countries.
Contemporary Issues Fellowships are available to citizens of:
Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan,
Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan.
If you are a citizen of one of the eligible countries and a
professional from a drug regulatory agency interested in
strengthening drug regulatory capacity, PSI encourages you to apply
for this grant opportunity. If you would like more information about
the Contemporary Issues Fellowship, please feel free to contact me at
pyork@psi-inc.org.
