E-drug: phenylpropanolamine
---------------------------------------------
The Pharmaceutical Journal (Vol 265 11. November 2000) has an
interesting article about the difference in the isomeric forms of
phenylpropanolamine used in Europe and US.
In the case of esomeprazole/omeprazole I feel that the difference
between the racemate and the isomer may be too highly priced
(praised?), but for phenylpropanolamine it seems to be unnoticed or
underestimated.
Racemates are in the process of becoming the drugs of yesterday. We
need to adapt our thinking.
