Respond to Lilia Ziganshina \] "Quality Use of Medicines and Pharmacovigilance" Conference, 12-14 October, 2005 in Kazan, Russia We will be happy to welcome you to ancient Kazan in 2005 – the millenium year! Dear colleagues! On 12-14 October 2005 in the city of Kazan, the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Tatarstan (Russian Federation) and the Kazan State Medical Academy for Post-graduate education (KSMA) are organizing an International Conference on the "Quality Use of Medicines and Pharmacovigilance" to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Department of Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmacotherapy of the KSMA. The Organizing Committee warmly invites you to take part in the Conference. A WHO team of key specialists and leading Russian specialists will also participate in the meeting. The scientific program will include plenary sessions and seminars on the following topics: \*Quality/rational use of medicines \*Pharmacovigilance, safety of medicines \*Evidence-based medicine in clinical pharmacology \*Information technologies in pharmaceuticals \*Formulary system and standards in healthcare systems, development of guidelines \*Drug supply systems for hospitals and communities \*Pharmacoeconomics \*Pharmacoepidemiology The Organizing Committee invites you to submit abstracts for the conference. These abstracts will also be published in a special Supplement of the Journal, “Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics”. The Conference Proceedings, including abstracts, will be published in a supplement of “Clinical Pharmacology and Therapeutics”by the Publishing Group "GEOTAR-Media". Abstracts preparation The abstracts should include the following sections: Background, Objective, Methods, Results and Conclusions. The abstract should not exceed 2 pages (A4). Positioning on the page: 1 line – payment information (not for international submissions) 2 line – family name, first name and second name (if applicable), address, telephone, e-mail of the corresponding author 3 line – affiliation – the institution, department, laboratory, the head of the dept/lab, the city 4 line – the title of the abstract (in BLOCK CAPITALS) 5 line – the text of the abstract: 12, Times New Roman, single spaced, margins 2,5 cm on all sides. Example of abstact lay-out THE TITLE Background: brief Objective: clear-cut, well-defined Methods: defining methods of statistical analysuis Results: concrete specific data, WITHOUT TABLES OR GRAPHS! Conclusions: corresponding to the objectives and methods.
