E-DRUG: Sidney Wolfe appointed to FDA's Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committee
--------------------------------------------

Dear e-druggers,

Some good news for the New Year... [Yes, good news indeed! Moderator]

Dr. Sidney Wolfe, WorstPills.org editor-in-chief and Public Citizen
Health Research Group co-founder, has been appointed to a four-year
term on the Food and Drug Administration's (FDA's) Drug Safety and
Risk Management Advisory Committee, which counsels the agency
concerning the safety of certain drugs.

In the context of this recent appointment, the January 9 edition of
The Wall Street Journal profiled Dr. Wolfe, highlighting his role as a
"drug-safety crusader" and a "pharmaceuticals rebel with a cause" in
an article and a video featured on the newspaper's website. "The
pharmaceutical industry has a recurring nightmare: Drug-safety
crusader Sidney Wolfe becomes a player at the Food and Drug
Administration," the article states.
