E-drug: Somatosterine (cont'd)

Not an exact match, I know, but this sounds like somatostatin, one of
the polypeptides produced in the hypothalamus. It inhibits the release
of growth hormone from the anterior pituitary. It also inhibits the
release of thyrotrophin and corticotrophin from the pituitary, glucagon
and insulin from the pancreas, and may have a role in duodenal and
gastric secretions.
Its use has been tried in a number of conditions but is hampered by
its very short duration of action. No information on its use in cancer.
