E-DRUG: Somatosterine (cont'd)

E-drug: Somatosterine (cont'd)
---------------------------------------------
Joe,

I agree with Tim that it sounds like somatostatin. Octreotide is an
octapeptide analogue of somatostatin with a longer duration of action.
This is used in e.g. the symptomatic management of carcinoid tumors
and other secretory neoplasms such as VIPomas. If you think this is
what you're looking for, I'm sure you'll find it on Medline. Two
extensive articles on emerging indications appeared in American journal
of hospital pharmacy in 1994, vol 51 page 1184 to 1192 and 1317 to
1330. Authors: Mosdell KW and Vixconti JA.
