E-DRUG: South-south collaboration for development of new drugs by developing countries
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
This is to inform you that my paper, “R&D for development of new drugs for
neglected diseases in India” has been published in the International Journal
of Technology and Globalisation, Vol 5, No 1/2, 2010 (
http://www.inderscience.com/browse/index.php?journalID=104&year=2010&vol=5&issue=1/2).
In the light of the experience of the Indian private sector and the
public-private partnerships initiated in India for the development of new
drugs, the paper explores some policy options and suggests the expansion of
public-private partnerships to include organizations from other innovative
developing countries such as Brazil and China. Such south-south cooperation
can provide both the pull and the push incentives and reduce the dependence
on developed country markets and on MNCs for the development of new drugs.
Comments and suggestions are most welcome. Those unable to access the paper
may please write to me for a copy.
