# E-DRUG: Use of rectal chloroquine

Dear E-druggers,

Please can anyone help on the matter of rectal administration of  
chloroquine. I have had a query from a nurse in Namibia who is  
administrating chloroquine syrup rectally to children who are  
vomitting.  
&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;  
The only reference I have been able to find is one in Martindale, which  
talks about preliminary studies using chloroquine suppositories.

Does anyone have any experience of using chloroquine rectally or any good  
references on the subject ?
