Subject Megadose vitamins

Dear Dr. Farris

I am as curious as you are in the issue of megadosing of multivitamins in
the Philippines. Although I do not have evidence of the usefulness of
megadosing of vitamins, this is often done in clinical practice with some
doctors and patients swear by the "improvements" they feel even though it
is our belief that they are not nutritionally malnourished. One of the
practice I often observed is the use of Vitamin B complex (1-6-12) to
treat neuropathy of any aetiology. We do know from literature that higg
doses of pyridoxine may be neurotoxic and vitamin C can lead to
hyperuricemia and to patients with G6PD deficiency, haemolytic anemia.
