Breastfeeding and HIV Transmission (4)
--------------------------------------
I do not know how this email from our friend Paul Chinnock at Africa
Health (Jan.9) did not get any response.
Advertising for baby milk? Paul, please beware that the 'Breastfeeding
and HIV Transmission' issue is irrelevant to any discussions wether a
health journal should accept advertizing from the milk industry. You
have always refused to take ads for baby milks, regarding their
promotion in Africa as being unethical. The latter still stands true.
Have things changed? NO!
You would be 'contaminating' yourselves by accepting ads (and
thus money) from these companies, BECAUSE their behaviour has
continued to be unethical in their promotion of these products to ALL
mothers regardless of HIV status. Keep enjoying a high standing with
aid agencies, academic institutions and with your readers. Accepting
baby milks ads will indeed damage your reputation.

PS: Dear Afronetters, I have been on the road a long time. I hope to be
back with some more food for thought shortly. All the best wishes for
the comimg year.
