----------------------------------------

On behalf of the Red Ribbon Awards 2004 Advisory Board, Journal-
ists Against AIDS (JAAIDS) Nigeria is pleased to invite entries
for the 2004 edition of the annual awards programme.

Now in its fourth year, the Red Ribbon Awards was instituted to
honour and showcase outstanding media and community responses to
the HIV/AIDS epidemic in Nigeria.

The awards will recognize individual journalists as well as me-
dia organisations, NGOs, AIDS activists and community groups
that have contributed to improving the quality of discourse and
action on the epidemic.

In addition to recognising journalists and activists whose re-
ports and actions have impacted positively on the fight against
HIV/AIDS related stigma and discrimination, this year's edition
of the awards competition will give prizes for best practices in
faith-based intervention, community response as well as on in-
volvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS.

24 awards in three categories are to be won this year. Entries
for all categories will be received up till Monday November 1
2004. Entries for all media categories must be published or
broadcast between November 1 2003 and October 31 2004. Winners
will be announced and honoured at a prestigious award night on
December 5, 2004 in Lagos.

tives of stakeholder communities including the Nigeria Union of
Journalists (NUJ), the National Association of Women Journalists
(NAWOJ), the National Action Committee on AIDS (NACA), Network
of People Living with HIV in Nigeria (NEPWHAN), UNAIDS and
