RFI: Models for Estimating Costs of ARV Programs... (2)
-------------------------------------------------------

Dear Dr Morris,

We have developed several versions of models for estimating ARV pro-
gramme costs over the last few years, and have used them in Namibia,
Botswana, South Africa and Mozambique. The cost models tend to be
combined with demographic modelling to incorporate notions of in-
creasing needs for care and cumulative numbers of people on ARV
treatment. Most might need a bit of modification to answer the more
specific questions that your programme managers might have (e.g. are
they interested in detailed line-item costs such as staff costs for
planning purposes?), but the basic parameters and core of the models
are there.

If you can give me more of an idea of what questions you want the
models to answer, I can give you an indication of whether the models
can give you what you want, or whether they may need some modifica-
tion.

Regards,

Anthony Kinghorn

Fewer than 1 in 100 South Africans aged 10-14 years are infected with
HIV. More than 1 in 5 of them will be infected by the time they turn
25 unless we change the course of the epidemic. What are you doing to
protect the young people around you?
