E-DRUG: Skin lightening creams and soaps

Some time ago we offered to make copies of a video concerning the trade in
creams and soaps containing injurious chemicals such as mercury. This has
taken longer than anticipated, but we are now ready to go ahead.

For your information, the video was made by a British company called Bandung
File. Although it was made ten years ago, it is still extremely
interesting. It provides a case history of the trade between Europe and
Africa a decade ago, and also vividly describes the toxicology of these
products.

At the time the film was made, the European Community was beginning to make
it difficult for member states to manufacture and export these products.
Now, it is probable that these activities have gone underground, and that
the products are made in other parts of the world where there is no
legislation to prevent manufacture and export.

We shall soon be sending copies to people who ordered them: if there are
other e-druggers wishing to have a copy, please get in touch by Tuesday 13
January. Naturally, we would also be interested to hear about the situation
regarding these toxic substances in your country.

Best wishes
