Dear E-druggers
The 2nd Virtual Pharmaceutical Policy Symposium will be held from 24-25 June 2025. It is hosted by the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Pharmaceutical Policy and Evidence Based Practice (University of KwaZulu-Natal), and co-hosted by the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Pharmaceutical Policy and Regulation (Utrecht University) and the World Health Organization Collaborating Centre for Governance, Accountability, and Transparency (University of Toronto).
You are cordially invited to attend this meeting! The format of this meeting will be as short sessions spread over two days. These will be online (from 13h00 SAST to 17h00 SAST) to allow participants the opportunity to reach more policy makers and researchers.
Target group
The primary target group for participation in this Spring meeting are Masters and PhD students, especially those directly related to or closely working with any WHO Collaborating Centre, and post docs and (senior) researchers. Those that have an interest in pharmaceutical policy are welcome to submit abstracts.
Contents of the meeting
Keynote lectures or panels will be convened around 2 streams. Abstracts will be presented and discussed in online parallel sessions. Abstracts are not limited to the streams; all research in the field of pharmaceutical policy are eligible for submission. The proposed streams are:
- Strengthening Pharmaceutical Processes
- Access to Medicines in Disruptive Situations
Abstracts for presentations
Abstracts should relate to planned or ongoing research and should at least state rationale, objective(s) and methods. Where possible early results can be presented. Abstracts should be in English. Text should not exceed 350 words. Abstracts for presentations must be submitted by 30th April 2025 (COB South African time) using the template. This template can be found using the following link:

You will be informed whether your abstract is accepted by 15th May 2025. Only one abstract should be submitted from a single person because of the limited number of abstracts that can be presented. The presentations should be for a maximum time of 15 minutes and should be based on a maximum of 10 PowerPoint slides. All sessions will be chaired by two senior researchers.
Meeting details
The conference will be held online through MS Teams/Zoom. The keynote lectures and parallel sessions will be spread over the course of two days between 13.00h-17.00h.
