4th SAHARA Conference announcement

SAHARA will be holding its fourth annual conference from 29
April to 2 May 2007 in Kisumu, Kenya. This year's theme is
"Innovations in Access to Prevention, Treatment and Care in
HIV/AIDS".
Topics to be covered include:
* Circumcision and surgical interventions: circumcision-related
sexual practices and complications in the African context
* Round table symposium on the preventive impact of male
circumcision on HIV.
* Risk reduction: challenges faced by PLWHA in Botswana, beliefs
and perceptions of HIV/AIDS among female sex workers in Nigeria,
and the influence of disclosure on sexual behaviour.
* Social interventions: working with faith-based organisations,
methods for evaluating abstinence and faithfulness approaches,
and couple-oriented prenatal HIV testing.
* Antiretroviral treatment for PLHWA: issues around gender,
adherence and disclosure.
* Care of PLHWA: case studies of different interventions, home
based care, nutrition and food issues, and depression amongst
OVC.
* Gender and communication: partner violence and HIV risk among
women, language choice and sexual communication among Xhosa
speakers, and what influence adolescent sexual behaviour.
* Good practice OVC intervention and research round table.
