Accuracy of religious document against condoms (12)
---------------------------------------------------
Can we not just put religious fervour to the test by considering the
fictitious situation where a religious person find her/himself placed
before the dilemma to choose religious inhibition or life. A certain
illness can be cured by performing an religious immoral act, if this
act is not performed death is certain. What would you choose?
Anyone might find his/her religious fervour diminished in such a situa-
tion. In fact it all depends how you interpret the Holy texts, or cul-
tural ways, you adhere to being in normal health, you will find your
beliefs seriously tested. I actually doubt that such a process can be
imagined when one did not come face to face with death before.
In life we all have to make communal and individual decisions. The very
moral fabric of our community life can suddenly be threatened by a as
foreign perceived illness (i.e. AIDS) and therefore local solutions and
morals might fail to resolve this invader disease. We should be very
wary of moralists who perceive themselves to be of a higher moral life
then others and dictate behaviour and attitudes.
