Network Manager and Clinical Trials Coordinator

Network Director (ND):
The ND will be Principal Assistant to the Managing Trustee.

Job Description:
* Deputizing the Managing Trustee;
* Planning and implementing programs, projects and activities for
  workshops, seminars, training, scholarships and fellowships, publica-
  tions and maintaining the necessary communication and coordination at
  the Secretariat and of the Network;
* Assisting the Managing Trustee to prepare long and short-term
  plans, including annual plans of action;
* Organizing relevant Network meetings and training activities in-
  cluding conferences, seminars, workshops, forums, etc;
* Preparation of calls, advertisements, announcements of Network
  training and research activities,
* Receiving, compiling and analyzing applications for network re-
  search and training activities;
* Communicating with meeting participants;
* Preparing activity and periodic research and training reports;
* Preparing minutes of Scientific Coordinating Committee
* Making inputs into financial reports;
* Preparation of proposals and protocols for funding purposes;
* Disseminating Network output to Network stakeholders including re-
  search and other scientific communities, governments, research donors
  and sponsors, private sector and other partners, communities, etc.;
* Producing the Network publications;
* Acquiring and disseminating pertinent literature;
* Assisting, representing and deputizing the MT at scientific and
  management meetings when necessary;
* Carrying out any other duties as assigned by the Managing Trustee
  (MT);

Qualifications:
* Preferably a medical degree, with postgraduate qualifications in
  public health, epidemiology, IEC, or similar specialty, preferably to
  PhD level;
* Demonstrated good track in biomedical research;
* Proven experience of not less than five years in institutional man-
  agement/leadership is essential;
* Competence with computer usage is essential, as are good interper-
  sonal attributes.

Clinical Trials Coordinator (CTC):
The CTC shall be responsible for AMANET sponsored clinical trials,
and therefore the principal advisor to the MT on all matters relating
to clinical trials, including their planning, execution, monitoring
and evaluation.

Job Description:
* Planning and coordinating clinical trials following ICH/GCP and
  other international regulations;
* Overseeing the designing and preparation of trial protocols, inves-
  tigators' brochures, monitor's protocol, informed consent statements,
  reference manuals, etc; * Monitoring adherence to protocol;
* Supervising trials across Africa;
* Preparing minutes of the Trial Sites Development Committee;
* Preparing minutes of Expert Committees;
* Filing regulatory and ethics review documents;
* Ensuring good quality data is collected;
* Preparing SOPs (in collaboration with investigators) for the proto-
  col and ethics;
* Supervising needs assessment and site characterization; and
* Undertaking any other duties as assigned by the MT.

Qualifications:
* MD or equivalent medical degree, a postgraduate degree (at least
  MSc or equivalent, preferably PhD in community or public health, epi-
  demiology, pediatrics, tropical medicine, communicable diseases, bio-
  statistics or similar area of specialization;
* Computer skills are essential as is good knowledge and experience
  with ICH/GCP;
* Familiarity with health research ethics issues in African settings
  is desirable;
* Previous training and experience in carrying out and monitoring
  clinical and field trials of interventions is required; and
* Experience in research supervision and knowledge of French are
  added advantages.
