Lessons Learned on Implementing a National Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision (VMMC) Program
The Kenyan national voluntary medical male circumcision (VMMC) program has circumcised 230,000 males in less than two years. Important implementation lessons learned are outlined in this paper, including how to address fluctuation in demand with adaptive employment strategies and the need to develop a comprehensive data monitoring system before providing services.

HIV PrEP Clinical Trial Ends Following Weak Interim Results
The randomized FEM-PrEP clinical trial measuring the safety and effectiveness of oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP) for prevention of HIV infection in women is halted after showing that women taking an oral HIV drug were no less likely to become infected with HIV than those who were not taking the medication. Researchers encourage the continuation of other ongoing and new oral PrEP trials.

Gender and HIV/AIDS: An Issue of Importance
This fact sheet summarizes key aspects of the PEPFAR Gender Strategy and its program implications. The strategy includes increased attention to prevention of mother-to-child transmission (PMTCT) and efforts to reduce gender-based violence. New initiatives include the PEPFAR Gender Challenge Fund and the Together for Girls (TfG) public-private partnership.
