Cardiovascular Diseases Survey
------------------------------
Dear Afro-Netters,
WHO is assisting the International Society and Federation of Cardiology
(ISFC), a non-governmental organisation in official relations with WHO,
in the assessment of resources available for the prevention, diagnosis
and treatment of cardiovascular diseases, as well as practice patterns
in cardiology in a number of developing countries and economies in
transition.
For this purpose, a questionnaire has been designed by ISFC, with input
from WHO, to gather information needed from experts, institutions or
national societies.
The ISFC's intention is to publish in close collaboration with WHO a
document entitled 'Growing burden of cardiovascular diseases in devel-
oping countries and economies in transition, with the purpose of iden-
tifying the major health problems caused by CVD, documenting the re-
sources available on their prevention and control, and formulating ap-
propriate strategies for international action. The information received
from the various countries will provide an important element and will
be reproduced in the document in full.
Could anyone out there please let me know if you can be of assistance
in helping to complete the questionnaire (specifically within the South
African Context)?
All other countries who have not received this info as yet, can also
respond and I will ensure that you get the questionnaire as well.
I will prepare an e-mail version and will forward it to you upon re-
quest out of concern that it might clog up unnecessary space. The hard
copy consists of three pages.
Awaiting your reply,
