Celebrating Water for Life: The International Decade for Action
2005-2015

The Water Sanitation and Health Unit at the World Health Organi-
zation is pleased to announce and launch, on behalf of UN-Water,
"Celebrating Water for Life: The International Decade for Action
2005-2015" advocacy guide in English. The advocacy guide is a
comprehensive resource intended to support and facilitate na-
tional and local celebrations and provides all partners and or-
ganizations with a tool to mark and celebrate the Decade on
World Water Day, 22 March 2005. Most importantly, the decade is
geared to help achieve the internationally-agreed water-related
goals, i.e. to halve by 2015 the proportion of people who are
unable to reach or afford safe drinking-water and who do not
have access to basic sanitation.

We strongly encourage you to provide links to it and to also in-
form your collaborators, networks, and national and local coun-
terparts. The advocacy guide is available electronically only
and will also be available shortly in Arabic, Chinese, French,
Russian and Spanish. While the advocacy guide is rich in content
already, it is a work in progress and will be supplemented and
updated continually.
