Certificate Course in Global Health

The University of Alabama at Birmingham's Framework Program for Global Health funded by the Fogarty International Center of the National Institutes of Health (Award #R25TW007501, Dr. John Ehiri, Principal Investigator) recently announced a new Certificate Course in Global Health which will start in Spring 2008. This course is aimed towards enhancing the ability of current and future health professionals to further develop analytical skills and apply alternative solutions to current and emerging global health challenges. Designed for professionals and those entering the field of Global Health, the certificate course is a flexible, academically rigorous option for those who wish to balance coursework and career. It will be offered online, using the WebCT course platform. There is also a 4-week field practicum designed to equip participants with hands-on experience in planning, implementation, and evaluation of global health programs.
The first course will run April 7-May 26, 2008 and will meet the need for skill enhancement for individuals with limited time to pursue a full degree.
This course is geared towards undergraduate and graduate students, recent graduates and other individuals interested in entering the field of global health. Individuals working or intending to work with organizations engaged in global health including individuals working with faith-based organizations, philanthropic foundations, industry, research and academic institutions, government and policy agencies, non-governmental organizations and bi-lateral and multi-lateral agencies should also consider the course.
