Condoms and the Church (5)
--------------------------
Dear David,
I am encouraged to see that the clergy of my church have learned
their lesson.
I had a similar experience that I thought was unique then but it
seems it is becoming a snowball effect.
Three years ago I attended a school's competition where schools did
plays, songs poetry etc. on HIV/AIDS. Virtually all the prizes were
wone by individuals and schools from Catholics although many denomi-
nations were present.
Accompanying these children was a black nun. So after the Competition
I went to her and said joking "Sister you will be excommunicated for
blasphemy, how did all your children know about sexuality and condoms
to win all the competition here. I am sure the Pope will not be
pleased".
Her answer really touched me, "My son, what would I say if God asked
me what I did to protect his children from HIV/AIDS? Do you think he
will forgive me if I said some one told me not to tell them about sex
and condoms? When judgement day comes I will be all alone to face the
Lord, I have to do what I have to do".
Who said Catholics are too conservative to change. Thanks for your
story David and god bless all the Catholics and I hope many more will
open their eyes.
