GMU Master Program in Health Policy and Management has been created
to provide health systems with the leadership and management compe-
tencies needed to meet these challenges. Developed and taught by re-
nowned figures in the arena, it provides prospective students with
the knowledge and skills they need to lead and manage health enter-
prises effectively. The program is jointly organized by GMU master
in hospital management and GMU master in health service management,
building on years of experience of the two renowned programs

Goals:
* Provide students with a set of skills and principles essential for
  practice in health policy and management;
* Enhance students' abilities to evaluate the effectiveness, effi-
  ciency, and equity of health policies and programs using rigorous re-
  search techniques and analytical reasoning;
* Provide opportunities for students to apply their newly developed
  skills and reasoning abilities to real-life health policy and manage-
  ment problems through internships.

The Learning Process:
Using students' working experience as a base, the 12-months curricu-
lum strengthens and builds upon the theoretical foundations underly-
ing health policy and management to allow students the opportunity to
enhance their skills and knowledge in this discipline. The curriculum
integrates the core concepts of public health with specific modules
in policy, management, strategy, finance, information systems, qual-
ity improvement, marketing, human resources, law and regulation. The
learning aims are delivered through a mix of approaches, e.g. case
method, overseas internships, group works and thesis.

Students in the 1st semester spend the first two months attending in-
tensive in-campus sessions. The next four months are projected for
local internships. The 2nd semester also begins with two months in-
tensive sessions in campus. The internship that follows consists of
three months local an one month international component. The interna-
tional component may vary from internship at health care organiza-
tions in industrialized countries to organizations in Indonesia that
meets international standards. At the end of study period students
are expected to submit a thesis in English. Students also have oppor-
tunities to undertake additional credits at overseas partner institu-
tions which may lead to the award of a double-degree

Prospective students:
Students for this program are assumed to have experience in health
sector by virtue of a minimum two years of work in the field. Fresh
graduates with distinctive academic record in relevant field may be
exempted from this requirement. Fluency in spoken and written English
should be demonstrated by a recognized test of English language
(TOEFL/IELTS)

The requirements above should be received by our secretariat before
the end of April. Academic year commonly starts at the end of August
each year.
