HealthNet News-AIDS Special Edition: WORLD AIDS DAY 2007

Dear Reader,

The theme for this year’s World AIDS Day, Dec 1, 2007, is leadership. Just before his 86th birthday, the former South African president Nelson Mandela made an urgent call for strong leadership to respond to the Aids pandemic. Mandela said, "In a world that is divided along many lines, we now have a unique opportunity to bring us all together around a common challenge. In ensuring that the millions of people who are infected and affected by HIV and Aids are not forgotten, we will not only make a difference to their lives, we will also make a difference to our lives as well. We owe this at least to humanity."

This special edition of HealthNet News contains some of the most recent research on HIV/AIDS. The authors of these studies are leaders in providing research that is shaping and will continue to shape the face of the AIDS pandemic.
