ference is a highly personal and interactive, face-to-face event to
energize the community of human service and technology professionals

The title of Steve's presentation will be:
"IT in the Human Services: Lessons from the Technology Opportunities
Program."
As some of you know, Steve has directed the US TOPS program (formerly
TIIAP) that spent approximately US$ 75 million to build the IT infra-
structure and narrow the digital divide in the US. For each of the
last 6 years, Steve's office has solicited, reviewed, funded, and
evaluated digital divide projects throughout the US. See:

for links to over 200 funded projects. Steve will tell us about some
of the most exciting, futuristic, and successful projects along with
their formal evaluation of why they were successful. It was my under-
standing that Steve's program received three times last years funding
(US$ 13 million) in the budget package passed in December 2000.
