Impact on HIV: Expanding the Response
-------------------------------------
Volume 1, Number 2, September 1999
Family Health International's (FHI) latest issue of Impact on HIV, a
semi-annual magazine about HIV/AIDS prevention and care, is now on-
line.
This issue examines a number of ways to expand the reach and scope of
HIV/AIDS prevention and care efforts. It includes articles about out-
reach services for injecting drug users and their partners in
Ukraine, options for preventing trafficking of women and children in
Asia, and promising research findings from Uganda on an affordable
drug to prevent mother-to child HIV transmission. Other topics ad-
dressed include the impact of STI treatment on HIV transmission,
strengthening HIV testing and other laboratory diagnostic services,
voluntary HIV counselling and testing, and FHI's surveys on HIV risk
behaviour to help monitor and evaluate prevention efforts in 20 coun-
tries.
