[afro-nets] Invitation to Forum 10

Invitation to Forum 10
----------------------

29 October to 2 November 2006
Cairo, Egypt

Dear Colleagues,

Forum 10, the 2006 annual meeting of the Global Forum for Health
Research, will take place in Cairo, Egypt, from 29 October to 2
November at the invitation of the Minister of Health and Popula-
tion of Egypt.

This year's theme is Combating disease and promoting health.

Forum 10 will gather representatives of a broad range of con-
stituencies working to promote and focus health research on
problems particularly present in developing countries. The pro-
gramme will examine research needs and gaps and policy options
based on evidence. There will be a special focus on research re-
garding the conditions that enable individuals, communities and
countries to promote better health, e.g. through investigating
good practices and avoidance of risk behaviours, and through
studies of improvements in the physical and social environments
in which people live and work.

The Forum is recognized as a premier annual event that brings
together all key stakeholders in particular the directors and
users of research, policy-makers such as health and development
ministries, multilateral and bilateral agencies, NGOs and civil
society, research-oriented bodies and universities, the private
sector and the media to debate critical gaps and energize
movements for action to address the health needs of the poor and
marginalized.
