Living in a pollution-free world is a basic Human Right (2)
-----------------------------------------------------------
ENVIROCARE (Environment, Human Rights Care and Gender Organisation)
was very much delighted to learn that UN Commissions have seen the
direct link between the environment and human rights.
ENVIROCARE believes that there is a close link between human rights
abuse, environmental degradation and poverty. People should know that
it is their right to live in a healthier environment and in turn they
have the obligation to protect and take all necessary measures to
conserve our natural environment.
ENVIROCARE advocates human rights and environmental justice. For har-
monious and sustainable development it is necessary to address the
key crosscutting issues: poverty, concern for environment and human
rights. Many of the programmes developed and carried out by the or-
ganisation in Tanzania have to address the above-mentioned cross-
acting issues.
Field experiences show that, where environmental abuse is high also
there is human rights abuse and poverty is the result of the two.
We shall very be grateful to know more about the conferences and how
to network with you for sharing experiences.
Yours sincerely,
Loyce C. Lema
