Mosquito/Malaria Control (22)
-----------------------------
Dear colleagues,
Some one has said that, cleanliness around our houses is a tool
for malaria control. From point of vector biology, that ecology
is for aedes aegypti the vector for dengue and not malaria.
So please, the solution behind the malaria control is just the
use of effective and affordable insecticides such as DDT. Italy
and India eradicated malaria in earlier 1940's and 50's. But af-
ter abolishing the use of DDT ,there is malaria resurgence in
India. Therefore we have to abolish these politics of creating
employments for abolishing DDT use (to those calling themselves
malaria; it's a shame.) and cause death to kids and pregnant
women who are innocent mostly in Africa.

Dear AFRO-NETS:
Here is a recent press release from the University of Bath that
discusses DDT resistance. It is sobering.

Mosquito/Malaria Control (23)
-----------------------------
The modern use of insecticides in mosquito control requires
their proper rotation and the use of different types materials
for these very reasons of resistance. The insecticides used to-
day constitute organo-phosphates, pyrethroids, growth regula-
tors, and bacteria. The proper timing and application of these
materials has been shown to virtually eliminate the problem of
resistance. If people are so terribly concerned about the prob-
lems with insecticides, why are the many mosquito control dis-
tricts within the USA and Europe not demanding reliance on bed-
nets as the first line of defense? While DDT is a very good ma-
terial and should be included in the anti-mosquito arsenal, its
use must fit in and be used in conjunction with the above men-
tioned materials.
