AFRO-NETS> New Healthlink Publication

New Healthlink Publication
--------------------------

Thank you for informing us about the SWAA conference taking place this
week which will focus on enhancing men's participation. We will be very
interested to read the bulletins/reports from the conference.

Participants may be interested to know of a new publication by Health-
link Worldwide (formerly AHRTAG) which provides practical information
for people who are working with men on sexual health or would like to
start doing so.

It addresses an important gap in information about sexual and reproduc-
tive health, most of which is targeted at women through family planning
and maternal and child health programmes. It looks at ways of engaging
men in discussions about sexual health and sexual responsibility and
men's role in reducing the incidence of unwanted pregnancy, sexually
transmitted infections (STIs) and sexual abuse. The publication in-
cludes:

* information on sexual health issues that concern men;
* exercises to support working on sex and sexuality with men;
* strategies for working with men on sex and sexuality, with examples
  from Africa, Asia and Latin America;
* basic information on men's and women's bodies, growing up, what hap-
  pens during sex, keeping safe during sex and other concerns which men
  face.

There is also a list of resources and organisations, which can be con-
tacted for more information and ideas.

Copies can be obtained from:
