AFRO-NETS> New Indigenous Healing Network

New Indigenous Healing Network
------------------------------

Dear subscribers of AFRO-NETS,

As a member of AFRO-NETS I would like to introduce you to a new elec-
tronic discussion group on the internet in which I think you might be
interested in participating. It is called the INDIGENOUS HEALING
NETWORK LIST (IHN-L) and has been created for the purpose of promot-
ing the expansion of knowledge and practices of indigenous, or tradi-
tional, methods of healing, and to promote the health of indigenous
peoples throughout the world.

Some of us who have worked in the fields of indigenous or traditional
health, healing and medicine have felt that the creation of a global
electronic network would provide a medium or platform for all inter-
ested persons to carry on a dialogue about the practices and research
that is being carried on with various healing methods throughout the
world.

We hope that through more international dialogue bridges can be built
between individual practitioners, researchers, government and non-
governmental organisations, and training institutions for the purpose
of creating health services and systems that will be culturally ap-
propriate, easily accessible, economical, and improve the quality of
life for individuals and communities.

The IHN-L is supported by Yooroang Garang, the Centre for Indigenous
Health Studies in The University of Sydney, Australia.

An international Council provides guidance in the operation of IHN-L.

If you embrace these goals I encourage you to subscribe to the list
and contribute your ideas, experiences or questions regarding the
study and practice of indigenous, traditional, or alternative healing
methods and medicine.

Your contributions can enrich the dialogue among network members.

As a member, you may participate in any of the discussions, ask ques-
tions, comment on relevant issues, send appropriate announcements, or
chat with participants.

Any mail you send to IHN-L will be automatically forwarded to every-
one on the list. You will get your own message back, as confirmation
that it has been processed.

There is no cost to subscribe.

To subscribe to IHN-L send an e-mail message addressed to:

Majordomo@listserv.cchs.usyd.edu.au

In the body of the e-mail message type:

subscribe ihn-l <your e-mail address> (omit the brackets)

You will then receive introductory information about the list and
commands you can use to obtain further information.

Information which is passed on via the network will be sent to you
automatically.

Warm regards,

Wilbur Hoff
