SciDev.Net's new online 'spotlight' on mother-to-child transmis-
sion of HIV

Announcement:
The Science and Development Network's 'spotlight' on mother-to-
child transmission of HIV brings together news, opinion and in-
formation on the latest research and international guidelines on
the prevention of MTCT (http://www.scidev.net/hiv/mothertochild).
The spotlight contains:
* A comprehensive introduction to the issues with breast-feeding
and drug therapy, including an overview of current guidelines on
antiretrovirals.
* Essential background reading on the basic science of mother-
to-child transmission and its prevention as well as on antiret-
rovirals, microbicides and vaccine development.
* Up-to-date news, features and opinion articles on mother-to-
child transmission and links to key organisations in the field.
The spotlight is the latest addition to the HIV/AIDS 'quick
guide' from the Science and Development Network
(http://www.scidev.net/hiv). The guide charts recent research
developments and indicates promising new avenues of treatment by
bringing together topical coverage and background resources. It
also includes a further two spotlights on vaccines and microbi-
cides in developing countries.
