sity in Aberdeen, Scotland.

COURSE OBJECTIVES
The course objectives are:
- to identify and improve the efficiency in various areas of the man-
  agement of pharmaceuticals;
- to improve the rational use of pharmaceuticals at all levels of the
  health care services.

COURSE CONTENT
The course will cover major areas in:
- drug policies and legislation;
- selection, estimation and procurement of pharmaceuticals;
- store and stock management and distribution;
- budgeting and financial control;
- rational drug use;
- management of personnel and programmes;
- role and function of a pharmacist;
- quality assurance.

EDUCATIONAL VISITS
During the course, visits will be made to institutions and facilities
to demonstrate various aspects of drug management and pharmaceutical
care.

TEACHING METHODS
Methods which are used during the course place strong emphasis on
group participation and learning through problem solving activities.

LECTURERS
Lecturers are selected from The Robert Gordon University staff and WHO
staff as well as experienced guest lecturers. All lecturers covering
management and rational use aspects have significant experience of work
and involvement in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.

ACCOMMODATION
Each participant will be offered University self catering accommodation
which has individual study bedrooms with access to shared kitchen,
lounge, bathroom and laundry facilities. Bed linen, cooking utensils,
crockery and cutlery are provided.

FEES AND COSTS
Fees of GB Pounds 3,300 (approx. US $5,300) per participant will cover
tuition fees, including course books and materials, and accommodation
fees. In addition each participant needs an allowance to cover daily
food, clothing and other personal expenses which is a minimum of GB
Pounds 1,500 (approx. US $2,400) for the period of the course.

APPLICATION
Applications are invited from health care professionals involved in the
management and control of pharmaceuticals at national, institutional or
programme levels. The course is particularly, but not exclusively, ap-
propriate for pharmacists.

Adequate knowledge of English is required. Applicants must find their
own sponsors.
