Progress For Children addresses the child survival Millennium
Development Goal, graphically depicting the world's advances in
the lead up to 2015. It states that despite global gains in
child survival since 1990, significant discrepancies remain
within and across countries and regions and 11 million children
still die needlessly each year. By ensuring access to basic ser-
vices and continued use of simple, cost-effective interventions,
these deaths can be averted and the goal of a two-thirds reduc-
tion in under-five mortality from 1990 to 2015 achieved.
