Proposal for workshops on health informatics education
----------------------------------------------------------------------------

In case readers of AFRO-NETS missed the "call" I put out on the HELINA-L
listserv recently I am repeating myself (more or less) in early September I
want to submit a grant proposal to the EC INCO-DC
programme

The idea is to exploit two European projects, IT-EDUCTRA and Nightingale,
and to use their products to develop courses on health informatics that
would be appropriate for developing countries

All course material would be placed on the WWW - even if people do not have
Internet access they could get the material on a floppy disk or CD ROM and
use a stand-alone PC + browser to see and or print out the material

We are looking for partners who would be able to attend 2 workshops a year
for 3 years, contribute 1 lecture / article (probably adapted from European
material) per year and would be involved in delivering HI education in some
way during that time

The proposal will not even be submitted to Brussels if we do not meet the
minimum number of partners - 3 from different sub-Saharan countries - and
we may struggle to find them!

I have set up a WWW site - it is very rudimentary at the moment, but should
have a major upgrade by the afternoon of Monday 11 August!

It will contain a first draft of the proposal, list of names and contact
details of possible participants and other useful stuff - the URL is:
