The Public Health Association of South Africa and the Interna-
tional Association of Health Policy invite you to the Public
Health 2004 Conference which will be held in Durban South Africa
from 6 to 8 June 2004.
The Conference seeks to influence the Public Health agenda in
South Africa and internationally through presentations, discus-
sions and workshops on key public health topics. It will provide
a forum for exchange between local and international public
health practitioners and scientists.
THE CONFERENCE THEME IS "Challenging Health Inequalities: Forg-
ing Progressive Partnerships for Public Health".
SUB-THEMES:
Health Inequalities
� Global and local factors
� The role of civil society in addressing health inequalities
� International co-operation in developing equitable health
policies
� Reducing the public-private gap
� Measuring and monitoring health and health care gaps
Health Systems Development
� Implementing health policies through public-public partner-

Addressing HIV/AIDs and other priority health problems
� HIV prevention and AIDS treatment � from policy to implementa-
tion

� Reducing injuries
� Partnerships to reduce under-nutrition
